Sadly, I am back from vacation. Back from cool weather, family filled, relaxing La Jolla, California. I spent about 4 days in Lake Tahoe with my boyfriend and some friends, then flew to San Diego to spend a few days with my dad’s entire side of the family in La Jolla. It’s been tradition since my grandmother was a baby, so it’s like my second home there.
The weather wasn’t too nice to me…I only spent about a total of 3 hours on the beach as it was very overcast (you can probably tell from the photos), and it was very cool. I didn’t mind too much though, I was there to be with family and even got to hang out with one of my best friends who lives in San Francisco!
So enough about ME. This is about the FOOD you’re probably thinking right now. As you may have noticed, I took the week off blogging… but definitely not eating. I got to try plenty of new spots in Lake Tahoe, La Jolla and one in Dallas this morning. It was also nice talking to cousins and family members who read my blog and are so very encouraging to me 
I am very blessed to have such an awesome family. You guys rock!
The point is I have lots of new material to share with you. Stick around for a fun-filled next few weeks of exciting eateries scattered across the West Coast.
First up: a cute little cupcake shop in downtown La Jolla.
Kind of looks like a sleek Apple store for cupcakes, doesn’t it? This little cupcakery is located in the quaint town of La Jolla serving up cupcakes and coffee. It’s always fun to stumble upon hip and trendy little spots in my vacation town. I got 4 mini cupcakes for everyone to try. I got the creme brulee, old school vanilla, milk chocolate and red velvet. I tried the creme brulee and it was perfection. I love the classic creme brulee, so it was the perfect creme brulee atop a (i hate this word) moist cupcake.
How cool are those stickers they place on top of the cupcake case? I thought it was a nice touch. My mom and I also ordered our 3pm pick-me-up coffees there and really enjoyed their all organic coffees. Their cool factor didn’t stop there. We went to fix up our coffees and they actually offered tiny tubes of agave nectar (the good for you sweetener! all natural). I’ve never seen a coffee shop that offers agave, especially in the fun little tubes. And for sleeves for your hot/cold coffee, it was a thin piece of cork that you stuck onto your cup. Way cool design and probably a lot cheaper for them.
As if you weren’t sold on this place already, I noticed something else cool. There was a group of girls that came in, ordered their cupcakes and sat down. One of the Cups employee came over to serve them their milk which came in these little old school jars and a fancy red and white striped straw. I love it! It’s little things like this that keep me coming back to restaurants.
If you’re ever in the area, or have friends over there who haven’t tried this cupcake shop, do it. Plus, if you don’t feel like eating a whole cupcake, you can order a mini one.
